Continue readingMoving to Australia and working at Everyday Independence in particular, has changed my life, and has changed who I am as a person. It has allowed me to travel more freely and see places I have dreamt of but never had the means to visit. I have made life-long friends and met my fiancé!
Working within the social model at an organization that drives positive change and inclusion, has made me love my job as an Occupational Therapist and increased my awareness of just how impactful I can be. Creating positive change in the lives of my participants and their families inspires me every day.
Working at Everyday Independence has allowed me to explore other aspects of my role which I never thought I would be interested in or passionate about. With access to so many clinical and operational leadership opportunities, I have grown and developed immensely both personally and professionally and have found a passion for leadership and management. I find it incredibly rewarding to support the growth, development, and success of the people I work with.
Everyday Independence was super supportive even before I moved over to Sydney. They were regularly checking in and assisting me with all the necessary tasks and processes involved in relocating and securing local professional registration.
When I arrived in Australia I had a wonderful team and team leader who was always willing to assist and advise on all things personal and professional, and who really helped me find my feet in those early months.
I would regularly participate in weekly informal online meetings with other international practitioners which was great as it allowed us to talk about our personal experiences in Australia, as well as support each other with fulfilling AHPRA requirements etc.
