Developmental Educator Careers

Join the team making inclusion possible for all Australians.

Be a Developmental Educator Change Maker

As a Developmental Educator, you’ll support participants and their networks to build new skills and positive habits. Your role will address the barriers that get in the way of participants’ well-being, participation and independence, working closely with an interdisciplinary team including allied health assistants.

You’ll take on the role of a social model practitioner, helping people overcome barriers that limit their engagement and opportunities. Using evidence-based practices, you’ll recommend tailored supports, therapy strategies, and interventions to improve participants’ quality of life.

What do Developmental Educators do?

As a Developmental Educator, you’ll help individuals and their families get more from their NDIS funding. If you were here last week, you might have:

  • Conducted Initial Assessments: Utilised our LEAD evidence-based assessment tool to understand participants’ needs and goals.
  • Collaborated with the Team: Worked with our interdisciplinary team to design and implement the best support strategies for participants and their families.
  • Supported Participants: Worked with individuals in their everyday environments—be it home, work, school, or community.
  • Capacity Building: Assisted in training and empowering participants’ support networks to create a supportive environment.
  • Professional Growth: Participated in peer group supervision, mentoring, and professional development to enhance your skills and expertise.
  • Enjoyed HubLife: Attended weekly team meetings to share stories of impact, completed reflective practice, and enjoyed social events with colleagues.

What Qualifications do I Need?

At the heart of it, we’re looking for passionate people who are innovative and flexible in how they support people to reach their outcomes.

You will need to:

  1. Have completed a Bachelor or Masters of Disability (or equivalent) and
  2. Be eligible to be a member of the DEAI (Developmental Educator Australia Inc). Membership is required upon commencement.
